Dart: 'I definitely feel disrespected' over OROY snub
New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart felt slighted after receiving only one first-place vote for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
"Absolutely," Dart said Friday when asked if the snub ticked him off, according to the New York Post. "Just turn off the pictures of the players and just look at the numbers. I feel like they speak for themselves. I don't need to argue that. But also I have a lot of respect for the other guys that were a part of it as well."
He added: "It's just a chip on my shoulder, for sure, but I definitely feel disrespected."
The Giants signal-caller finished fourth in voting behind TreVeyon Henderson, Tyler Shough, and Tetairoa McMillan, who won the award.
Dart provided a spark for New York this season, throwing for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns, and five interceptions over 14 appearances, including 12 starts. He was also effective with his legs, rushing for 487 yards and nine touchdowns.
The Giants went 4-13 in Dart's rookie campaign, but the 22-year-old will play under a new coaching staff next season. In January, New York hired longtime head coach John Harbaugh, who brought in Matt Nagy as offensive coordinator Tuesday.
