The New York Jets are benching Justin Fields and starting Tyrod Taylor for Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens, a source told The Athletic's Dianna Russini.

The Jets' quarterback change comes after Fields completed 15 of 26 pass attempts for 116 yards in a 27-14 loss to the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football. The result marked just the second game in Fields' last five outings that he passed for more than 100 yards.

Head coach Aaron Glenn had declined to give much insight into a possible quarterback switch in recent weeks but seemed to hint at making a move following New York's latest result.

"You know what? I'm evaluating everything, to be honest with you," Glenn said last Friday, per USA Today's Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz. "I'm evaluating myself, the players, schematics, coaches, I'm evaluating everything. So, I don't want to just place everything on that, that one situation. I'm just looking at everything, because as a head coach, that's my job, to make sure that I put this team in the best position to go win games."

Taylor also started the Jets' game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sept. 21 when Fields was in concussion protocol.

New York signed Fields to a two-year, $40-million contract in free agency this past offseason after the 26-year-old spent the 2024 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
