Burrow returns to practice following turf toe injury
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow will practice in a limited capacity Monday, opening his 21-day window to come off injured reserve, the team announced.
Burrow hasn't practiced since undergoing surgery to repair a Grade 3 turf toe injury. He's been on injured reserve since Sept. 16 due to the procedure, which was expected to sideline him about three months.
Last week Joe Burrow told me he’s returning wayyyy sooner than was expected and gave me the timeline of “Thanksgiving-ish.” Now will start practicing on a limited basis. Absolutely unreal attack of rehab and response. At first medical people didn’t believe he’d be back before…

Cincinnati was 2-0 at the time of Burrow's injury but has since lost six of seven. However, the 3-6 Bengals have managed to stay in the running for the AFC North title, with only the 4-5 Baltimore Ravens and division-leading 5-4 Pittsburgh Steelers ahead of them.
The Bengals first turned to Jake Browning following Burrow's injury, but he struggled in the two-time Pro Bowler's absence, throwing for six touchdowns against eight interceptions. Joe Flacco, who was acquired in a trade from the Cleveland Browns, has started the team's last three games and injected a pulse into the offense. The 40-year-old has thrown for 11 touchdowns to two interceptions while averaging 313.5 passing yards.
