Eagles' Sirianni not doubting Brown's 'desire to be here' after cryptic post
Head coach Nick Sirianni is confident that A.J. Brown wants to remain with the Philadelphia Eagles despite the wide receiver posting a cryptic message on social media following Sunday's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"Obviously, A.J. is very important to this football team," Sirianni said Monday, according to NBC Sports Philadelphia's Dave Zangaro.
"I know he wants to contribute and do the things that he's capable of doing. He wants to contribute to these wins. And he's had a couple games where he hasn't been able to for different reasons of why we haven't in these games."
Brown finished Sunday's 31-25 victory with two receptions for 7 yards on nine targets. Philadelphia struggled to find success passing against the Bucs in the second half, as quarterback Jalen Hurts went 0-for-8 in the final two quarters.
Brown didn't speak with reporters postgame, later posing a Bible verse on social media that read: "If you're not welcomed, not listened to, quietly withdraw. Don't make a scene. Shrug your shoulders and be on your way."
But Sirianni said Monday that he believes Brown's frustrations reflect his competitive drive.
"I question nothing about his desire to play great football, his desire to be a good teammate, his desire to be here."
Brown's off to a slow start four games into his fourth campaign in Philadelphia, exceeding 30 yards in only one contest. However, the Ole Miss product posted a season high 109 yards on six catches for one touchdown in the Eagles' win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 21.
The three-time Pro Bowler has recorded at least 1,000 yards in each season since Philly acquired him from the Tennessee Titans in a 2022 trade. However, the team's passing offense ranks 31st in the NFL in 2025, averaging 138 yards per game. Although the Eagles remain undefeated, opponents have outgained them this year.
Philadelphia hosts the Denver Broncos next Sunday.
