Chiefs' Butker lands on IR with knee injury

Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker will miss at least four weeks after being placed on injured reserve Friday, the team announced.

Butker underwent surgery for a meniscus trim, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The kicker tweeted Friday that the procedure went "great."

The Chiefs signed kicker Spencer Shrader to the active roster from the New York Jets' practice squad in light of Butker's injury. Shrader made both of his field-goal tries against the Arizona Cardinals last week. They were the first two attempts of his career.

Butker, 29, has converted 18 of 20 field-goal attempts and 21 of 22 point-after tries this season. He's also forced a touchback on 80% of his kickoffs.

Kansas City's next four games are against the Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, Las Vegas Raiders, and Los Angeles Chargers.

Butker has made 89.2% of his 241 career field-goal attempts. He signed a four-year, $25.6-million extension ahead of the 2024 campaign.
