Packers' McKinney: I don't respect Lions for 'trying to embarrass' teams
Green Bay Packers defensive back Xavier McKinney isn't a fan of what he's seeing from the Detroit Lions.
"I think they try to embarrass people," McKinney said Friday ahead of their Week 9 matchup, according to Tom Silverstein of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "And I think this organization and the players we have in here, they don't really take that lightly. We know that's what they're going to come here and try to do."
The Lions have used several tricky plays in recent years under head coach Dan Campbell and offensive coordinator Ben Johnson. Detroit went viral after running multiple tricky plays while holding a 37-9 lead over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 6.
Campbell's outfit ranks first in points scored this season and most recently defeated the Tennessee Titans 52-14 with the help of another first-half tricky play.
"Me, personally, I'm not a big fan of that, trying to embarrass someone. I don't really respect that. It is what it is," McKinney added.
The 6-1 Lions currently lead the NFC North, while the Packers rank second in the division at 6-2. Detroit and Green Bay have won five and four consecutive games, respectively.
"Obviously, they've got a really good team," McKinney said. "And this is for the No. 1 spot, so it's going to be a big game. We understand that. We're just preparing. We're getting ready. We're not really talking much about the Lions right now (except) in film preparation."
Key Packers starters are dealing with injuries ahead of their division showdown with the Lions. Quarterback Jordan Love (groin), running back Josh Jacobs (ankle), and cornerback Jaire Alexander (knee) are all listed as questionable.
McKinney - who signed with Green Bay during the offseason - put on a show in his first games with the Packers and currently leads the NFL with six interceptions. He's also recorded 36 tackles, seven pass breakups, and one sack.
