New England Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye was ruled out of Sunday's 25-22 win over the New York Jets in the second quarter after being evaluated for a head injury.

Maye took a helmet-to-helmet hit on a scramble late in the first quarter. He stayed in for the rest of his team's offensive drive before being examined in the blue medical tent and going to the locker room.

The No. 3 pick went 3-for-6 passing with 23 yards before exiting the matchup. He also rushed for 46 yards and one touchdown while making his third career start.

Jacoby Brissett, who started five games earlier this season, entered the contest at QB for the Patriots.

With Maye sidelined, Brissett stepped up in the second half, finishing the day with 15 completions on 24 attempts for 132 yards. The veteran signal-caller also quarterbacked a game-winning drive that saw running back Rhamondre Stevenson score a go-ahead touchdown with 0:22 seconds left.
