Falcons' Morris shrugs off Pitts' 0-catch day: 'Stats are for losers'

Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris isn't worried at all by tight end Kyle Pitts' lack of production during the team's Week 4 win over the New Orleans Saints.

Pitts was targeted three times but finished the day with zero catches. Five Falcons players caught at least two passes, including Drake London and Ray-Ray McCloud, who each had a team-high six receptions.

"It's just about going out there and winning the game," Morris said postgame when asked about Pitts being held without a catch. "He had a couple (of) targets, he had a couple (of) things going on that way."

The coach added: "Really, for me, stats are for losers. I don't get involved in that stuff."

Pitts has had a quiet start to the 2024 season, as he entered the matchup against the Saints with only eight receptions for 105 yards and one touchdown.

The 23-year-old's usage in the NFL has been a hot topic, as the Falcons haven't been able to properly unlock his full potential. Pitts entered the league as the No. 4 pick in 2021 and had a 68-1,026-1 stat line as a rookie. Since then, he's yet to top 700 receiving yards or score more than three touchdowns in a season.

Morris - whose coaching staff features first-year offensive coordinator Zac Robinson - is the second different head coach to work with Pitts. The Falcons hired Morris this past offseason to replace Arthur Smith, the team's sideline boss from 2021-23.
