Cardinals' Harrison: I need to do a 'better job' after 1-catch debut

Marvin Harrison Jr. isn't hiding from a disappointing NFL debut in which he caught only one pass during the Arizona Cardinals' Week 1 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Harrison acknowledged that he needs to do a "better job" helping the offense moving forward.

"I got to get open and catch the ball," Harrison said Wednesday, according to ESPN's Josh Weinfuss. "That's my job as a receiver. That is your job description. That's what I got to do a better job (of)."

Harrison's usage became a talking point after he was only targeted three times. The rookie receiver played only three preseason snaps before the 2024 opener and believes that played a part in his slow start.

"I was definitely thinking a lot out there and I think that'll come with reps, thinking less and just going out there and playing," Harrison said. "It'll definitely come with reps and it's something I'll get better at, but I definitely say I was thinking a lot out there."

Kyler Murray, meanwhile, said he wasn't worried about Harrison's lack of looks, noting it's not his job to force targets. Murray also added that he'll "never lose confidence" in the No. 4 pick or their partnership.

"It was his first game," Murray said. "We have to continue to get better and we will."
