The Minnesota Vikings are rewarding their standout left tackle Christian Darrisaw with a four-year contract extension, the team announced Tuesday.

Financial terms of the agreement weren't revealed, but the deal is worth up to $113 million in new money, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The contract reportedly includes $77 million guaranteed, including $43.7 million at signing.

If Darrisaw ends up earning the full $113 million on his extension, he'll become the NFL's highest-paid OT at $28.25 million. Penei Sewell of the Detroit Lions tops all offensive tackles with an average annual salary of $28 million, according to Spotrac.

Minnesota picked up the fifth-year option on Darrisaw's rookie contract this past offseason. The 2021 first-round pick still had two years left on his original deal.

Darrisaw hasn't played a full season since entering the NFL due to injuries. When healthy, though, the 25-year-old is one of the league's most reliable left tackles. He was the third-best tackle in pass block in 2023, according to PFF.

The former Virginia Tech stud has made 41 appearances (39 starts) in three NFL seasons, including 15 last year.

Darrisaw is the second Vikings cornerstone to receive a lucrative extension in 2024 following receiver Justin Jefferson. Minnesota is investing heavily in its offensive supporting cast as the team transitions to a new quarterback. J.J. McCarthy was drafted 10th overall and Sam Darnold was signed as a free agent.
