Former Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Drue Tranquill is signing a one-year contract worth up to $5 million with the Kansas City Chiefs, sources told Jordan Schultz, theScore's NFL insider.

Tranquill picked the Chiefs over five other teams, Schultz adds.

The 27-year-old linebacker leaves Los Angeles for its AFC West rival after the best season of his career. He set new career highs in tackles (146), sacks (5), and tackles for loss (10) and also added an interception.

Tranquill joins a linebacker group that includes Willie Gay Jr. and Nick Bolton, among others.

The Chiefs weren't done there as they also signed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Mike Edwards, a source told Schultz. A third-round pick in 2019, Edwards put up 184 tackles and seven interceptions across a four-year stint in Tampa Bay.

Kansas City also added key names such as offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor and pass-rusher Charles Omenihu in free agency.
