Tomlin, Heyward shut down Claypool's idea for music at practice

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin doesn't plan to play music at practice, despite the wishes of wide receiver Chase Claypool.

"Claypool plays wideout and I'll let him do that. I'll formulate the practice approach and I think that division of labor is appropriate," Tomlin said Tuesday, according to ESPN's Brooke Pryor, after Claypool suggested Monday that playing music would help improve the Steelers' practices.

Tomlin isn't the only Steeler who isn't on board with Claypool's idea.

"I hope he was kidding, because as soon as he said it I was literally about to rip the speaker out," defensive tackle Cam Heyward said Tuesday, according to Mike Prisuta of 102.5 FM WDVE. "That is not what we need right now. It's Xs & Os and it's execution."

Heyward added: "There's not gonna be anything played during practice."

The Steelers haven't won any of their last three games. They've suffered two straight losses, including a 41-10 defeat against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 12 that dropped the team into the AFC North basement with a 5-5-1 record.

Tomlin is planning his own changes to get his team back into the win column.

"We're open to some schematic changes," he said, according to Pro Football Talk's Josh Alper. "We're open to some personnel changes, obviously. They won't be drastic in nature. Probably more subtle in nature, but hopefully significant. Significant in a positive way."

Pittsburgh hosts the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
