New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and his wife, Brittany, announced they will donate $5 million to the state of Louisiana in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

"After considerable research and conversations with local organizations, we will be mobilizing our partnerships with Second Harvest Food Bank, Ochsner Health Systems, Walk-Ons, Jimmy Johns, Smalls Sliders, and Waitr to prepare and deliver over 10,000 meals per day throughout Louisiana for as long as it takes to children on meal programs, seniors, and families in need," Brees wrote.

The quarterback has been involved in community efforts throughout his time in the NFL. He and his wife founded the Brees Dream Foundation to support cancer patients in 2003. They also played an important role in New Orleans' recovery after Hurricane Katrina, helping to rebuild and restore several projects and child-care facilities in the city.
