DeChambeau plans to use 3-D printed iron during Masters

The Mad Scientist is at it again.

Bryson DeChambeau plans to use a 5-iron that he designed and 3-D printed himself during the Masters this weekend.

"That's the plan as of now," DeChambeau said Wednesday, according to ESPN's Mark Schlabach.

The United States Golf Association would still have to approve DeChambeau's clubs before play begins Thursday.

"We'll see where it goes. We'll see where it takes me," the captain of LIV's Crushers GC added. "All I could say now is, if I don't put them in the bag, it's my fault now."

DeChambeau attempted to enter the 2024 Masters with custom 3-D printed clubs, but the USGA deemed them nonconforming. The 32-year-old finished sixth that year but insists the clubs "are finally ready" this time around.

The two-time major winner posted the best Masters result of his career last year, finishing tied for fifth and four strokes behind winner Rory McIlroy.

DeChambeau is slated to tee off at 10:07 a.m. on Thursday at Augusta National in a group with Matt Fitzpatrick and Xander Schauffele.
