Bucks' Prince: Winning NBA Cup prize money 'is bigger than just us'
More than just bragging rights will be on the line when the Milwaukee Bucks and Oklahoma City Thunder meet in the NBA Cup final Tuesday night as each player on the winning team will walk away with $500,000.
Bucks forward Taurean Prince spoke about the significance of the prize money during an appearance on SiriusXM NBA Radio.
"You go down the line of the bench, and obviously contracts start to get lower, and you definitely want to play for the guys next to you," Prince said. "And this is real money that could buy these guys' families their first house, or their mom their first house, or that car that they wanted.
"It's big. It's bigger than just us. It's a lot of opportunity that we could take advantage of, not only for ourselves individually but for our teammates. So we all got that in mind, and everybody knows what's at stake and what can be done with this type of money for certain people, so we're just trying to take advantage of the moment."
The winners of the second annual NBA Cup will earn $514,970 apiece, while players on the losing team will take home $205,988 each.
Tuesday's game will be the first meeting of the season between the Bucks and Thunder, who are 14-11 and 20-5, respectively.
