The ESPY Awards will look a lot different this year.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, soccer star Megan Rapinoe, and three-time WNBA champion Sue Bird will serve as remote hosts for the ESPYs, airing June 21 on ESPN, the network announced Tuesday.

Instead of focusing on outstanding athletic achievement, the awards show will highlight service, perseverance, and courage within the sports world.

"We liked the idea of having athletes from diverse sports that represent something for every fan," ESPYs producer Jeff Smith told The Associated Press. "We're finding ways to make this feel really connected to the audience. They're so ready to reach out to this community."

The ESPYs are typically held in July, but the date and format of the show were adjusted due to the coronavirus pandemic. The producers hope to have the award recipients learn they won at the same time the viewers find out.
