Oklahoma State and head coach Mike Gundy are in a "standoff" after the school asked him to take a restructured contract, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel.

The restructured deal is reportedly expected to include a pay cut. Oklahoma State has also discussed firing Gundy for cause if he doesn't agree to the new contract, Thamel adds.

Gundy signed a perpetual five-year extension with the Cowboys in 2021.

Oklahoma State fired offensive coordinator Kasey Dunn and defensive coordinator Bryan Nardo earlier this week. The Cowboys finished 3-9 in 2024, their worst record of Gundy's tenure. They went 0-9 in Big 12 play.

The 57-year-old owns a 169-88 record as Oklahoma State head coach since he was hired in 2005.
