Michigan fired offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Kirk Campbell, the school announced Tuesday.

"After a thorough assessment of our offense, I made the decision to relieve Kirk Campbell of his duties and move in a different direction," head coach Sherrone Moore said in a statement. "This was a decision that I felt was in the best interest of our football program."

This was Campbell's first season coordinating Michigan's offensive unit. The 38-year-old originally joined the team as an offensive analyst in 2022 and became QBs coach in 2023 when he stood out after helping J.J. McCarthy and Co. win the national title under head coach Jim Harbaugh.

However, Campbell's offense wasn't able to replicate that success in 2024 with Harbaugh and McCarthy off to the NFL. The Wolverines, who finished the regular season 7-5, averaged only 22.2 points per game this year - the 112th-best mark in the nation.

The team particularly struggled at quarterback while starting Davis Warren, Jack Tuttle, and Alex Orji throughout the campaign. The three passers finished with 11 touchdowns against 12 interceptions combined.

Tight ends coach Steve Casula will serve as Michigan's interim offensive coordinator for the team's bowl game.
