No. 7 Alabama's CFP pursuit fades in loss to Oklahoma
No. 7 Alabama's case for a College Football Playoff spot took a significant hit with Saturday's 24-3 blowout loss to Oklahoma.
It's the first time Alabama has lost three games during the regular season since 2010. Meanwhile, Oklahoma's win marks its first victory over an FBS opponent since September.
Sooners quarterback Jackson Arnold ran for a game-high 131 yards and running back Xavier Robinson chipped in with 107 yards to go along with two scores.
Oklahoma's defense intercepted three passes from Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe and held the dual-threat star to 7 rushing yards.
The Crimson Tide appeared to score a touchdown early in the fourth quarter when receiver Ryan Williams made an acrobatic grab on fourth down. The score was nullified by a penalty for an illegal touch of the ball, however, resulting in a loss of down.
The Sooners became bowl eligible with the win. They'll finish the regular season on the road against LSU next weekend. Alabama hosts in-state rival Auburn in the Iron Bowl next Saturday.
