5-star QB Lewis commits to Colorado after USC withdrawal

Five-star quarterback Julian Lewis, the No. 2 overall recruit in the 2025 class, committed to Colorado, he announced Thursday on "The Pat McAfee Show."

Lewis decommitted from USC on Sunday after announcing his pledge to the Trojans over a year ago. He reclassified from the 2026 class to 2025 in January.

"I'm excited for the opportunity to get to work and compete," Lewis said, according to Eli Lederman of ESPN. "Colorado wasn't recruiting me until I reclassed, so it really was perfect timing.

"This is only the beginning. I trust Coach Prime and (offensive coordinator Pat) Shurmur to help me become the player that I want to be."

Lewis plans to sign with Colorado when the early signing period opens in the first week of December and will enroll with the school in January, per Lederman.

The Georgia native chose the Buffaloes over the Bulldogs and Auburn. He went to Athens on an unofficial visit during the club's game versus Tennessee on Saturday.

Lewis went on an official visit to Colorado in June and was on campus when the Buffaloes defeated Cincinnati on Oct. 26.

The 17-year-old has attended Carrolton High School in Georgia for the last three seasons. He's racked up 2,842 passing yards, 40 touchdowns, and four interceptions in 11 contests this year.

Lewis is the first five-star recruit landed by head coach Deion Sanders for the 2025 class. Deion's son, Shedeur Sanders, is slated to enter the 2025 NFL Draft as one of the top quarterbacks in the class.
