Although Lambert-Smith led the Nittany Lions in most receiving categories, his production declined toward the end of the 2023 season. He had two catches in the final four games and didn't make a reception in the team's 38-25 loss to Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl.
The Virginia native was reportedly contemplating whether to transfer away from the program as he stayed away from the team recently, per Zentiz.
Head coach James Franklin declined to speak about Lambert-Smith's absence at the team's annual spring game Saturday.
"I'm really happy to talk about any of the guys that played in the game today and are in the locker room," Franklin said, according to the Centre Daily Times' Jon Sauber. "Besides that, I don't have a whole lot to say."
Lambert-Smith departs Penn State having tallied 126 catches for 1,721 yards and 11 touchdowns during his tenure.
