Texas Tech head coach Grant McCasland has signed a six-year contract extension through the 2030-31 season, the school announced Monday.

The extension makes him one of the highest-paid college basketball coaches.

"Coach McCasland immediately built upon our men's basketball program's established success and continues working to raise and deliver on high expectations," athletic director Kirby Hocutt said in a statement. "We look forward to an exciting future for Texas Tech basketball under Coach McCasland's leadership."

McCasland has spent two seasons as the Red Raiders' coach, going 51-20. This past campaign, Texas Tech went 28-9 and reached the Elite Eight before losing to Florida, the eventual national champion.

Prior to joining the Red Raiders, McCasland coached North Texas from 2017-23. The Mean Green won the C-USA Tournament and made it to the Round of 32 in 2021.
