Kentucky point guard Kerr Kriisa will be out indefinitely after sustaining a foot injury that will require surgery, the team announced Sunday.

The injury is not considered season-ending.

Kriisa hurt his foot during Kentucky's 90-89 overtime win Saturday night over No. 7 Gonzaga. The Estonian was making his first start of the season, which was also his first start as a Wildcat, scoring a season-high eight points to go along with four assists and three rebounds.

Kriisa is in his fifth season of college basketball, having had previous stops at Arizona and West Virginia. The 23-year-old eclipsed 1,000 career points Saturday.

A key piece for first-year Kentucky coach Mark Pope, Kriisa is averaging 4.4 points and 3.8 assists for his new squad.

The fourth-ranked Wildcats are 8-1, with their lone loss coming against Clemson in the ACC-SEC Challenge. Kentucky is scheduled to host Colgate on Wednesday night before facing in-state rival Louisville on Dec. 14.
