The NBA suspended Sacramento Kings guard Dennis Schroder three games for confronting and attempting to strike a player following Sacramento's 125-101 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Dec. 28.

The league didn't name the player in question, though Schroder was apparently seeking out Luka Doncic, sources told Chris Haynes of Amazon Prime Video. The NBA said that Schroder initiated the confrontation 40 minutes after the game in an arena hallway.

As a result of the suspension, Schroder will miss Monday's rematch between the teams in Sacramento.

Schroder and Doncic exchanged trash talk on several occasions during the Dec. 28 contest. In one instance, Schroder appeared to have words for Doncic after the two bumped into each other following a free throw.

In another clip captured by a courtside fan, Doncic appeared to mock Schroder for not signing a four-year, $84-million extension supposedly offered by the Lakers in 2021. Schroder later signed a one-year, $5.9-million contract with the Boston Celtics that summer.

The two have a long history in the NBA but have also squared off against one another several times with their respective German and Slovenian national teams. Their most recent encounter in international play occurred during the 2025 EuroBasket quarterfinals. Schroder got the better of Doncic on that occasion, as Germany won 99-91 to eliminate Slovenia despite the five-time All-Star scoring 39 points.
