Report: Raptors ink Poeltl to 4-year, $104M extension
The Toronto Raptors agreed to a four-year, $104-million contract extension with center Jakob Poeltl through the 2029-30 campaign, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
Poeltl will exercise his $19.5-million player option for 2026-27 and add three more years to his existing contract, adds Charania.
Toronto reacquired Poeltl from the San Antonio Spurs in February 2023. The 7-footer has provided the Raptors with some stability at the five on both ends of the floor. He turns 30 in October.
Poeltl averaged a career-high 14.5 points, 9.6 boards, 2.8 assists, 1.2 blocks, and 1.2 steals across 57 appearances last season. He also finished fifth in the Association in field-goal percentage (62.7%) and eighth in offensive rebound percentage (11.7%)
Opponents shot only 59% against Poeltl on attempts within 6 feet of the basket, which ranked 10th among players who defended at least 400 field goals from that range last season.
Toronto originally selected Poeltl with the No. 9 overall pick in 2016.
The Raptors reportedly added more frontcourt depth earlier Tuesday, signing big man Sandro Mamukelashvili to a two-year, $5.5-million deal, according to Charania.
