The Washington Wizards selected Texas guard Tre Johnson with the sixth overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Johnson was arguably the best scorer in the SEC last season. The 19-year-old led the conference in points per game while maintaining a top-15 field-goal percentage.

He earned SEC Freshman of the Year for his efforts while also making the All-SEC second team and All-Freshman team.

Johnson is one of the best three-level scorers in his draft class: He possesses the ability to score from the paint, mid-range, and from beyond the arc. He can create for himself and also converts a plethora of high-difficulty shots. His 3-point shooting percentage was good enough for second in the SEC and he also made the seventh-most attempts from long range in the conference (6.8).

Johnson can be trusted with the ball in his hands, and he has minimal issues shooting off the dribble. However, to become a true star he needs to develop as a playmaker and defender. He also needs to learn how to use his length and athleticism to disrupt opposing offenses.

NBA comparison: Lou Williams. The three-time Sixth Man of the Year and Johnson are pure scorers. They might not provide much defensively or get their teammates involved often, but they can definitely get you buckets. Johnson and Williams dribble well enough to score from all over the court.
