Grizzlies' Jackson week-to-week with ankle sprain
Memphis Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr. is week-to-week after being diagnosed with a Grade 2 left ankle sprain, the team announced Tuesday.
Jackson suffered the injury during Monday's 132-130 loss to the Atlanta Hawks. The 2023 Defensive Player of the Year appeared to get hurt 1:39 into the game, landing awkwardly while attempting to block a Dyson Daniels layup attempt. Jackson exited the contest and didn't return.
The 25-year-old is having a career season with Memphis, averaging personal bests in points (22.7) and steals (1.3). Jackson's also tallying 5.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. The Michigan State product was the Grizzlies' lone All-Star selection this campaign, his second appearance.
The Grizzlies have once again been hit by the injury bug. Only Brooklyn Nets (312) and Charlotte Hornets players (281) have lost more games due to injury than Memphis players (261) this campaign.
The Grizzlies are riding a three-game losing streak and sit fourth in the West with a 38-23 record. They'll host the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday.
