LeBron: Teammates said 'I'm old as hell' after breaking minutes record

LeBron James celebrated another career milestone Thursday during the Los Angeles Lakers' 113-100 win over the Sacramento Kings, becoming the NBA's all-time leader in minutes played in the regular season.

James' teammates used the achievement as an opportunity to rib the 39-year-old.

"Coach came in, congratulated me. My teammates said, 'F--k off,'" James told ESPN's Dave McMenamin when asked how the Lakers reacted to him setting the new record. "Told me I'm old as hell and all that.

"But like I said, it's a pretty cool honor, obviously, any time I'm linked with some of the greats that have ever played this game. To know that I've been available to my teammates, I've been able to do this at a high level for two decades, and continue to put myself in record books in this game of basketball that I love so much and the best league in the world is pretty cool, and it's very humbling."

James surpassed fellow Lakers great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's longstanding mark of 57,446 regular-season minutes to claim the top spot. He also overtook Abdul-Jabbar last season as the NBA's all-time leader in career points.

Through 25 games this season, James is averaging 22.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, and nine assists per contest.
