Dunleavy optimistic about Curry extension: 'He'll be a Warrior for life'

Golden State Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. is optimistic the club will ink Stephen Curry to a contract extension this summer.

"That guy can get whatever he wants. … I think that stuff will get figured out, and he'll be a Warrior for life," Dunleavy told reporters Friday, including ESPN's Kendra Andrews.

Curry is eligible to receive a one-year, $62.6-million contract extension that would kick in for his age-38 campaign in 2026-27, per ESPN's Bobby Marks.

Golden State has until Oct. 21 to extend the two-time MVP's existing deal, adds Marks.

Curry has spent his entire 15-season career in the Bay Area after being taken by the Warriors with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft. The 10-time All-Star is the franchise's all-time leader in several categories, including points, threes, assists, and steals. He was the engine on Golden State's greatest run in team history, leading the organization to four NBA titles in an eight-year span.

As Curry approaches the end of his career, it appears he has no interest in playing elsewhere.

"I can clearly say I want to be a Warrior for life," Curry told Yahoo Sports' Vincent Goodwill. "It's always been my goal."
