Durant passes Anthony for 9th on NBA's scoring list

Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant continues to cement himself in NBA history.

Durant entered Friday's game against the Houston Rockets trailing legend Carmelo Anthony (28,289) by just 21 points for ninth place on the NBA's all-time scoring list.

The 14-time All-Star tied Anthony early in the fourth quarter with a layup before passing him a few minutes later at the free-throw line. Durant finished the game with 28 points.

Drafted in 2007, the 35-year-old has split his career between the Seattle SuperSonics/Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets, and Suns franchises. The four-time scoring champion won two NBA titles with Golden State in 2017 and 2018.

Durant is 300 points behind NBA icon Shaquille O'Neal for the eighth spot on the scoring list.
