Heat's Robinson: Brown's flagrant foul was 'dangerous' play

Duncan Robinson took offense to Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown's flagrant foul during the Miami Heat's 110-106 loss Sunday.

With 7:54 remaining in the fourth quarter, the two players became intertwined when Brown tried to collect a pass from Derrick White. Robinson's arm latched onto the Celtics star and the 27-year-old appeared to pull down onto it, causing the Heat wing to fall into the stands.

Brown was assessed a flagrant-1 foul, and the tandem shared words at the free-throw line.

"I just thought it was a dirty play to be honest with you," Robinson said postgame, according to Zachary Weinberger of ClutchPoints. "That's how people miss entire seasons ... those types of plays you've seen before throughout the history of the NBA, guys suffer really bad injuries from instances exactly like that."

"I thought it was dangerous, unnecessary, and excessive."

Brown said Robinson intentionally locked arms with him.

"There was no issue for me," Brown said, according to ESPN. "I think he knew exactly what he was trying to do. Trying to get tangled up ... because he didn't want to play defense. They called the foul, but he was still trying to hang on, so I was trying to get my arm free.

"Miami's known for being physical. Miami's known for getting away with a lot of that stuff, kind of mucking up the game. You know, at the end of the day, you got to protect and own your space. I feel like Duncan Robinson knew what he was doing there, trying to get tangled up, trying to draw whatever. I don't know what he was trying to do, but I bet you he won't do it again."

The two teams have become familiar with each other recently, meeting in the conference finals in each of the last two seasons. Boston has beaten the Heat in all three games this campaign.
