Jeremy Lin scrimmaging with G League Ignite
Free-agent combo guard Jeremy Lin will participate in untelevised scrimmages with the G League Ignite this week, including a tilt against veterans of the NBA's development circuit Tuesday, according to ESPN's Jonathan Givony.
Lin, who lives near the Ignite's home in Walnut Creek, California, can remain with the team as a practice player for as long as he wants, according to Givony.
The Ignite are the G League's unaffiliated elite prospect team. The inaugural roster features a number of players who were ranked among the top high school recruits in the 2020 class, including No. 1 overall prospect Jalen Green, who eschewed scholarship offers to top NCAA programs in order to turn pro.
In addition to a host of highly touted potential 2021 draftees, the Ignite also boast a number of established players. Former NBA veterans like Amir Johnson and Bobby Brown were brought on to help mentor their younger teammates this coming season.
The 32-year-old Lin last appeared in the Association with the Toronto Raptors down the stretch of the 2018-19 campaign, resulting in his first title win. In a season split between the Atlanta Hawks and the eventual NBA champions, the Harvard product averaged 9.6 points, 3.1 assists, and 2.4 rebounds in 19.4 minutes per game.
After failing to receive an NBA contract, Lin played with the Beijing Ducks of the Chinese Basketball Association in 2019-20, averaging a team-best 22.3 points and 5.6 assists per game.
