Talbott suffers 1st loss in huge upset at UFC 311
Bantamweight prospect Payton Talbott left UFC 311 with the first loss of his career, falling to Raoni Barcelos via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26) on Saturday night in Los Angeles.
Talbott entered the fight as a -1050 betting favorite, making Barcelos' victory the sixth biggest upset - based on odds - in UFC history, according to Tapology.
Talbott now holds a 3-1 record in the Octagon and a 9-1 record as a professional. Many viewed the 26-year-old as one of the most promising up-and-comers at 135 pounds over the last year after he began his UFC career with three straight finishes, including a 19-second knockout of Yanis Ghemmouri last June.
Barcelos dominated Talbott from start to finish in the grappling department, completing eight of 15 takedown attempts and amassing over nine minutes of control time.
Barcelos, a 37-year-old Brazilian who's been in the UFC since 2018, is now 19-5 as a pro.
