UFC 272 is shaping up to be a can't-miss event.

A rematch between UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling and interim champion Petr Yan will take place at the event on March 5, UFC president Dana White told ESPN's Brett Okamoto.

A trilogy bout between Max Holloway and featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski is also set for the card, Okamoto adds.

The meeting between Sterling and Yan will be their first since a controversial bout at UFC 259 last year. Sterling became bantamweight champion after Yan was disqualified in the fourth round due to an illegal knee.

A rematch between the two competitors was originally set for UFC 267, but Sterling dropped out due to injury. Yan went on to defeat Cory Sandhagen via unanimous decision at the event to become interim champion.

Meanwhile, Holloway will be searching for his first victory against Volkanovski after falling short in the first two bouts. Volkanovski won the featherweight title after defeating Holloway by decision at UFC 245. He successfully defended the title against his rival in a rematch at UFC 251, winning by split decision.

Volkanovski is coming off another successful title defense against Brian Ortega at UFC 266. Holloway hasn't lost since his previous defeat to Volkanovski, taking down Calvin Kattar and Yair Rodriguez by decision in his last two fights.

UFC 272 is set to take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
