New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor was removed from Wednesday's game against the Minnesota Twins in the fifth inning with left calf tightness.

Lindor will undergo an MRI on Thursday, manager Carlos Mendoza said postgame.

"We probably won't have Lindor in the lineup tomorrow," Mendoza told reporters postgame, according to Deesha Thosar of Fox Sports.

Lindor hurt himself while running the bases and scoring a run in the bottom of the fourth inning. He ran from first to home slowly and appeared to grimace as he rounded third base before barely beating the throw home.

"When you see a guy like Lindor (in pain), for as tough as he is ... I knew right away when he was rounding third base that something wasn't right there," Mendoza said, according to SNY.

Brett Baty entered the game in Lindor's spot at third base to start the top of the fifth, while Bo Bichette moved to shortstop.

Lindor's injury comes the same day that superstar outfielder Juan Soto returned from the injured list after missing two weeks with his own calf strain.

"We lost Soto, and we had a hard time. Now we could be potentially dealing with losing with another really good player, and we gotta figure it out," Mendoza said.

Lindor underwent surgery to repair a broken hamate bone in February but recovered in time for Opening Day and has played in all of New York's 24 games this season. The 32-year-old is hitting .226/.314/.355 with two homers and five RBIs across 105 plate appearances.

The Mets rebounded from the loss of Lindor to beat the Twins 3-2 and snap a 12-game losing streak.
