Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Trey Yesavage will begin the 2026 campaign on the injured list with a shoulder impingement, manager John Schneider said Thursday, according to Sportsnet's Arden Zwelling.

Yesavage reported to camp with the issue and has been building up slowly this spring. While he's feeling better, the rookie ran out of time to prepare for the start of the season, Zwelling added.

The 22-year-old hadn't appeared in a major-league spring outing, and the Blue Jays were going to monitor his workload in the early portion of the regular season.

Yesavage threw 98 innings across the majors and minors last season and then tossed another 27 2/3 frames for the Blue Jays during their playoff run.

The Blue Jays are already set to begin the season with Shane Bieber and José Berríos on the IL, leaving them with a potential rotation of Kevin Gausman, Dylan Cease, Cody Ponce, Max Scherzer, and Eric Lauer.
