Blue Jays' Yesavage to start Game 1 of World Series
Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Trey Yesavage will start Friday's Game 1 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Yesavage will pitch opposite left-hander Blake Snell for the Dodgers.
The 22-year-old will make his fourth postseason start after throwing once against the New York Yankees in the division series and twice against the Seattle Mariners in the ALCS.
Yesavage will be the second-youngest pitcher ever to start Game 1 of the World Series at 22 years and 88 days old, according to MLB.com's Sarah Langs.
"It's sick. I mean, he's awesome. I love him," teammate George Springer said of Yesavage getting the start, according to MLB Network PR.
"He's just so calm all the time. I feel like 22-year old me would not be as chill as he always is, and I just feel like this modern-day player is still way different."
The 2024 first-round draft pick owns a 2-1 record with a 4.20 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 15 playoff innings. He pitched well in his last outing against the Mariners in Game 6 of the ALCS, striking out seven over 5 2/3 frames.
Yesavage started three big-league games in the regular season after he began the 2025 campaign in Single-A.
