Report: Brewers expected to field offers for Peralta
The Milwaukee Brewers are expected to listen to trade offers for ace right-hander Freddy Peralta this offseason, reports The Athletic's Andy McCullough.
Peralta's contract includes an $8-million team option for 2026, but he'll be a free agent after next season.
The 29-year-old is coming off the best campaign of his career, setting personal bests with 17 wins, a 2.70 ERA, and 176.2 innings pitched. Peralta also finished sixth in the NL with 204 strikeouts and is expected to receive downballot Cy Young votes. He made at least 30 starts for the third consecutive year.
Peralta went 1-2 with a 4.70 ERA in three starts during the 2025 postseason.
Despite being a competitive team, the Brewers are no strangers to dealing players entering the last year of their contracts, moving starter Corbin Burnes after winning 92 games in 2023, and closer Devin Williams following 93 victories in 2024.
Milwaukee was swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS after setting a franchise record with 97 wins during the regular season.
Peralta praised Milwaukee when asked about the potential of being traded following Friday's season-ending loss, although he acknowledged he could be dealt.
"I've been here forever, and I love this. I love the city of Milwaukee, the team, everyone here. And that's coming from the bottom of my heart," Peralta told reporters. "But at the end of the day, I know this is a business, and I understand that anything can happen."
