Astros' Alvarez sprains ankle after awkward step on home plate
Houston Astros outfielder Yordan Alvarez exited Monday's game against the Texas Rangers with a left ankle sprain after stepping awkwardly on home plate during the first inning.
Alvarez could barely make it down the dugout stairs before heading into the clubhouse, according to The Athletic's Chandler Rome.

Alvarez was replaced by Zach Cole, who shifted to right field. Jesús Sánchez, who started in right, moved to left field.
The 28-year-old Alvarez entered Monday with six home runs, 27 RBIs, and a .794 OPS across 47 games.
Houston began the day one game behind the Seattle Mariners for top spot in the AL West. The Rangers are two games behind the Astros in the division.
