Boston Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony was removed from Tuesday's game against the Cleveland Guardians with left oblique tightness.

Anthony will undergo an MRI on Wednesday and will be reevaluated, manager Alex Cora said after his team's 11-7 win, per NESN.

Anthony said postgame that he felt the tightness on a check-swing during his fourth-inning at-bat. He was seen holding his lower back and left side while walking back to the dugout after striking out in that plate appearance. He didn't take the field in the top of the fifth, and was replaced defensively by Nate Eaton.

The 21-year-old missed two games in August because of mid-back tightness.

"It sucks," Anthony said postgame. "(I'm) hoping for the best and staying positive, but anytime I'm not out there I'm pretty pissed off.

"... I've been feeling great. And just took a check-swing, and felt it there, and knew something wasn't right.

Anthony, one of the favorites to win AL Rookie of the Year, is hitting .292/.396/.463 with eight home runs and 32 RBIs over 71 big-league games this season. The former No. 1 overall prospect signed an eight-year, $130-million extension with Boston in August.
