The Tampa Bay Rays promoted shortstop prospect Carson Williams to the majors, they announced Thursday.
Williams is the top prospect in the Rays' minor-league system and No. 47 overall, according to MLB Pipeline.
The 22-year-old recorded 23 homers, 55 RBIs, and 22 stolen bases with a .765 OPS over 111 games in Triple-A this season.
The Rays selected Williams with the 28th pick in the 2021 draft.
To make room for Williams on the active roster, Tampa Bay placed infielder Ha-Seong Kim on the 10-day injured list with low back inflammation. Outfielder Stuart Fairchild was transferred to the 60-day IL to open Williams' 40-man roster spot.
