The Dodgers remain a massive favorite to win the World Series, boasting the second-best record in the National League. Contenders like Los Angeles, the Yankees, and the Phillies didn't see much movement following the deadline, although Philadelphia bolstered its bullpen by adding Jhoan Duran, possibly the best closer on the market. The Phillies, who are second in the NL East with 61 wins, have stayed atop the oddsboard since the season opened.

The Padres were the biggest trade deadline winners. They moved from +3500 to +1600 after making all-in moves to capitalize on their win-now window. San Diego acquired pitchers Mason Miller and JP Sears while parting with one of the top prospects in baseball. The Padres now have one of the best pitching staffs in the majors.

The Astros and Mets also improved their championship chances at the deadline. Both went from +1200 to +1000 to win the World Series, tied with the Cubs for the fourth-best odds.

Houston reacquired Carlos Correa in a blockbuster trade with the Twins. Though he has struggled with injuries in the past, a healthy Correa could boost the AL West-leading Astros' title chances as they aim to build on the American League's third-best record.

The Mets had many holes to fill and didn't make any huge moves but improved on the margins by trading for Cedric Mullens and some relief pitchers.

The Blue Jays also received a slight bump in their odds, going from +1400 to +1200 after acquiring Shane Bieber to strengthen their starting rotation, among other moves. Although Bieber hasn't pitched in over a year while recovering from Tommy John surgery, he's expected to return to the lineup soon. Toronto's tied with the Tigers for the best record in the American League despite having the fourth-best odds to win the pennant.

Transactions lead to odds movement, but they don't always result in championships. The active teams around the deadline hope their moves pay off in October.
