Brewers' Hoskins out until at least mid-August with thumb sprain

The Milwaukee Brewers placed first baseman Rhys Hoskins on the 10-day injured list Monday with a Grade 2 sprain in his left thumb.

The Brewers expect Hoskins to be sidelined until at least mid-August with a potential return coming at the end of that month, according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com.

Hoskins suffered the injury while attempting to tag a runner at first base during Saturday's game against the Miami Marlins.

Hoskins has 12 home runs with 42 RBIs and a .767 OPS over 82 games this season.

The Brewers recalled first baseman Andrew Vaughn from Triple-A to replace Hoskins on the active roster.

Vaughn has yet to make his Brewers debut after being acquired in the Aaron Civale trade with the Chicago White Sox in mid-June.

The 27-year-old slashed .189/.218/.314 with five homers, 19 RBIs, and 43 strikeouts in 48 games with the White Sox in 2025. However, Vaughn, the No. 3 pick in the 2019 draft, hit a career-high 21 long balls with 80 RBIs and a .743 OPS in 2023.
