Dodgers' Gonsolin lands on IL with elbow discomfort

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed right-hander Tony Gonsolin on the 15-day injured list with right elbow discomfort, the club announced Saturday.

Gonsolin is the 16th Dodgers pitcher to spend time on the injured list this season. The defending World Series champions are currently without Tyler Glasnow, Roki Sasaki, and Blake Snell from the Opening Day starting rotation.

The Dodgers also activated relievers Kirby Yates and Michael Kopech ahead of Saturday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Gonsolin, 31, owns a 3-2 record with a 5.00 ERA and 38 strikeouts across 36 innings in seven starts this season.

He was sidelined for the first month of the regular season after injuring his back lifting weights during spring training. Gonsolin also missed the entire 2024 season after having Tommy John surgery in 2023.

Yates has been sidelined since the middle of May with a strained hamstring.

Kopech missed the start of the campaign after dealing with forearm inflammation in the offseason.
