The Tampa Bay Rays signed right-hander Kyle Gibson to a minor-league contract, according to Rays reporter Ryan Bass.

The Baltimore Orioles released Gibson on May 20 after the 37-year-old allowed 23 earned runs on 29 hits (seven homers) with seven walks and 10 strikeouts over 12 1/3 innings (four starts) this season.

Gibson didn't make his debut until late April after signing a one-year, $5.25-million deal at the end of spring training.

The veteran pitcher owns a 4.60 ERA with 1.39 WHIP and 7.3 K/9 over 13 years with the Minnesota Twins, Texas Rangers, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, and Orioles.
