The Seattle Mariners' starting lineup took a hit when the team announced Thursday that second baseman Ryan Bliss is expected to miss four-to-five months after he undergoes biceps surgery.
Bliss was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday after he tore his left biceps during a loss to the Houston Astros on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old posted a .200/.282/.314 slash line with one home run, three RBIs, and two steals in 11 games this season.
Miles Mastrobuoni started at second base for the Mariners on Wednesday. Jorge Polanco, Dylan Moore, Leo Rivas, and Donovan Solano also have experience at second base.
Mariners outfielder Victor Robles was recently ruled out at least 12 weeks after injuring his shoulder making an acrobatic catch.
