Rangers' Langford lands on IL with oblique strain
Texas Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain, the club announced Wednesday.
Langford sustained the injury while striking out swinging in the seventh inning of Tuesday's game against the Chicago Cubs. He departed after that at-bat with discomfort in his side but downplayed the ailment postgame.
"I've kind of had it for a couple days, just like sore, not really bad at all," Langford said, according to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News. "I mean, obviously I've been able to play through it. I think I'm hoping a couple days and back to it. One day last week it felt kind of weird and then it went away. Today was the first time I really felt it since then."
The 23-year-old also missed a part of spring training with an oblique strain.
Langford, who was drafted with the No. 4 pick in 2023, has recorded four homers, six RBIs, and two stolen bases with an .894 OPS over 12 games to start the season after finishing seventh in AL Rookie of the Year voting in 2024.
The Rangers recalled utility man Ezequiel Duran and outfielder Dustin Harris and optioned infielder Jonathan Ornelas to complete the roster shuffle.
