The Chicago Cubs and right-hander Colin Rea agreed to a one-year contract with a 2026 club option, according to Jesse Rogers of ESPN.

The pact is worth $5 million, reports Steve Adams of MLB Trade Rumors.

Rea posted a 4.29 ERA with 1.26 WHIP and 135 strikeouts over 167 2/3 innings (27 starts) with the Milwaukee Brewers last season.

The 34-year-old also knows Cubs manager Craig Counsell from their time together with the Brewers.

Rea will provide starting pitching depth for a rotation that already includes Shota Imanaga, Justin Steele, Jameson Taillon, Matthew Boyd, and Javier Assad.
