Report: Tigers interested in Bregman
The Detroit Tigers have shown interest in signing third baseman Alex Bregman, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Bregman is familiar with Tigers manager A.J. Hinch, who led the Houston Astros from 2014-2020.
The Tigers are currently expected to begin the 2025 campaign with Jace Jung at third base. Jung made his MLB debut in 2024, registering a 102 wRC+ with five doubles and three RBIs in 79 at-bats.
Bregman, 30, spent the first nine seasons of his career with the Astros, winning two World Series titles and making a pair of All-Star appearances.
The Astros have also made Bregman an offer as they hope to continue their relationship, Heyman adds.
Bregman rebounded from a slow start to 2024, finishing the campaign with 26 home runs, 30 doubles, 75 RBIs, and a 118 OPS+ across 145 games.
