Berríos: Keeping Vladdy should be Blue Jays' 'priority'
José Berríos is hoping Vladimir Guerrero Jr. remains a member of the Toronto Blue Jays for the long haul.
"When we sign Vladdy, we can sign whoever they want," Berríos told El Vocero's Jarniel Canales Conde. "But I think the priority should be Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and then if we add Juan Soto, it would be a perfect world."
Guerrero is under team control for one more year before he's scheduled to hit free agency. The 25-year-old is projected to earn $29.6 million in his final year of arbitration, according to MLB Trade Rumors.
Guerrero put together an excellent season in 2024. He won a Silver Slugger and was named to the All-MLB first team for the second time in his career.
The Blue Jays are also among a handful of teams who have reportedly met with Soto and his agent Scott Boras as they try to snare this year's marquee free agent after a disappointing 74-88 campaign in 2024.
